Homeroom teachers, team teachers, single-subject teachers, the support team (EAL Coordinator, Learning Support Coordinator, and Counselor), and the leadership team all play active roles in promoting the emotional, social, and physical wellbeing of our students. Safeguarding at HJIS Safeguarding means protecting students from harm and making sure concerns about safety, wellbeing, abuse, neglect, bullying, harassment, or emotional risk are taken seriously. At HJIS, safeguarding is a shared responsibility. Staff are trained to notice concerns, follow clear reporting procedures, and work with appropriate school leaders and external agencies when needed. Prevent We maintain clear expectations, professional boundaries, and safe school practices. Notice Staff are trained to recognise signs that a student may need help. Report Concerns are reported through established school procedures. Respond Trained staff review concerns, plan next steps, and follow up appropriately. NOTE: If a student is in immediate danger, local emergency services should be contacted first. The school should then be informed as soon as possible through the appropriate safeguarding contact. The safeguarding policy states that HJIS is committed to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing, and that all staff, parents, support providers, and volunteers share responsibility for creating a safe and supportive environment. Working Together with Families Student wellbeing is strongest when school and home work together. We partner with families through communication, parent workshops, counseling guidance, wellbeing information sessions, and early conversations when students need support. Learn more Fullscreen Page | Horizon Japan School SCHOOL BUSES | Horizon Japan School Student Transportation Private Bus Service Student Transportation Providing safe transportation for children to and from school and school-related activities is of top priority to us at HJIS. The school has contracted with a private bus company to provide safe and reliable transportation for HJIS students for an additional fee. Our fleet of buses services a large region that includes nearly all major areas of Yokohama and surrounding neighborhoods. Bus Capacity When a school bus reaches its full capacity, wait-lists will be created and students will be able to register for using the bus once a seat becomes available. Students on wait-lists will have priority for seat registration if seats become available within the school year. Bus Routes Bus routes are revised annually according to changes in our bus riders and are designed to accommodate the transportation needs of our students as efficiently as possible.
