IYPT Japan - International Young Physicists’ Tournament

Welcome to IYPT Japan!
IYPT Japan is a premier platform for high school students to showcase their physics research skills and engage in open-ended problem-solving. The International Young Physicists’ Tournament (IYPT) brings together young minds to participate in scientific discussions and defend their work in Physics Fights.

Japan first participated in IYPT 2025 (Lund, Sweden) as an observer and is now preparing for the full team for IYPT 2026. The national selection process and training are coordinated by Horizon Japan International School in collaboration with local educators and science institutions.


National Selection and Participation
The Japan IYPT Team is selected through a National Selection Round that includes:

Research on selected IYPT problems.

Presentation and defense of solutions in a “Physics Fight” format.

Evaluation based on scientific understanding, experimentation, and communication.
Outstanding teams and individuals will represent Japan in the international competition.
