As winter shifted to spring in Yokohama, Horizon Japan International School buzzed with energy and connection. From the International Cultural Festival to Women’s Week and spirited sports events, this season was a powerful reminder of what it means to learn and grow in a truly global community — right here in the heart of Kanagawa’s vibrant port city.
A World of Culture Under One Roof: ICF 2025
The International Cultural Festival (ICF) is one of the most anticipated events at Horizon Japan International School, and this year’s celebration in Yokohama was nothing short of spectacular. Students, families, and staff brought the world to campus with vibrant displays of traditional foods, music, and performances.
More than 50 nationalities were represented, turning our Yokohama campus into a living, breathing showcase of global diversity. Beyond the booths and performances, the festival encouraged dialogue, understanding, and pride in each student’s cultural identity.
ICF isn’t just an event, it’s an invitation to learn, share, and celebrate the beauty of our differences.
Stepping Into Strength: Women's Week at Horizon

In recognition of International Women’s Day, Horizon held a powerful Women’s Week, where students explored gender equality, empowerment, and global female leadership.

In classrooms across Yokohama, discussions, art displays, and storytelling activities sparked meaningful conversations about respect, equality, and celebrating women’s contributions, both globally and locally. The initiative left a lasting impression on students, reminding them that empowerment begins with awareness.

Pink Day: Taking a Stand Together
As part of Horizon’s ongoing commitment to inclusion and kindness, students joined the Anti-Bullying Club’s Pink Day— a school-wide initiative to stand up against bullying.
By wearing pink and participating in awareness activities, students and staff sent a unified message: everyone belongs, and kindness is a strength.
The day included discussions about empathy and respect, reinforcing Horizon’s core values of community and understanding, values that guide our international school’s approach in Kanagawa, Yokohama and Tokyo.

Sports in Motion: Jump Ropes, Salsa, and Volleyball
From PE classes to after-school matches, Horizon students stayed active and energized this season.
The Jump Rope Unit in PE challenged students to test their stamina, coordination, and creativity through rhythm-based movement.
High schoolers stepped into Latin rhythm with an exciting Salsa workshop, bringing music and motion together.
The Volleyball team took part in spirited interschool matches, demonstrating skill, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
A Message from the Head of School
“Seeing our students take the lead, whether through culture, sport, or compassion. It has been deeply inspiring. This past month has shown us the strength of our values and the joy of being part of something greater.”- Mehmet Deniz, Head of School
