Special Visits

Honoured Guests of the Prime Minister of Japan

Following our annual International Children's Festival celebrations on Sunday 23rd April, when students and families had international fun at our school, we were honoured to have 6 students, our Principal, Vice Chairman and one of our teachers invited to visit Prime Minister Koizumi at his official residence. In the sunshine on Monday we arrived in our Horizon school bus and were led to a most beautiful lounge.
During the visit our students presented flowers and a signed picture to the Prime Minister and they had a lively discussion about our school and life for international students in Japan. Although there were interpreters to assist if needed, our students chatted freely with the Prime Minister and were complimented on their Japanese language skills. We all received a unique gift from the Prime Minister and then the fun really began with the Prime Minister joining our students to sing a song they had prepared and that he also knew.
We were made to feel like film stars with the number of photographers and reporters who were waiting outside. Our Principal, Mr. Suleyman Turhan graciously thanked the Prime Minister for a very special experience that will stay in the minds of those that went, forever.
