Dear Horizon Community,
I would like to take this opportunity to send a quick update on our second and final accreditation confirmation for this academic year. During our accreditation visit earlier this year, we had the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) visit us. We have already shared with you our CIS accreditation news, but now we are very proud to announce that we have received successful re-accreditation from WASC as well.
I would like to share this moment with all of you and express my thanks to all of you for continued support in helping to make our school what it is, and will continue to be in the future.

Dear Mr. Kocak,
The Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools
and Colleges (ACS WASC) announces the action taken at the Winter 2019
Commission Meeting. The ACS WASC Commissioners have determined
Horizon Japan International School (PK – 12) meets the ACS WASC criteria
for accreditation. This accreditation status is based on all of the information provided by the school, including the self-study report, and the satisfactory completion of the on-site accreditation visit.
It is the decision of the Commission to grant Accreditation to Horizon Japan
International School (PK – 12).
Per the CIS/ACS WASC process, Horizon Japan International School is asked
to submit an Annual Accreditation Report that addresses the identified areas for improvement to both organizations. Guidance on the Annual Report can be found on the CIS Portal.
Accreditation status is conditioned upon Horizon Japan International School’s continued adherence with the ACS WASC policies, procedures, and criteria for accreditation. This includes a requirement that an accredited school annually contribute members to participate
The Commission looks forward to Horizon Japan International School’s
anticipated success and continuing improvement in keeping with ACS
WASC’s pursuit of excellence in elementary, secondary, and adult education.
