As you might have heard, we had a combined accreditation visit last week by CIS & WASC and I am pleased to inform you that the Council of International Schools has awarded CIS accreditation to Horizon Japan International School with immediate effect as of Nov 27, 2018 (The related news on CIS page)
Obtaining the CIS accreditation certifies that HJIS students are given an education that meets the most stringent international quality standards. To achieve accreditation, HJIS had to meet rigorous standards and undergo a lengthy and in-depth review process. During this period, a school’s Guiding Statements, teaching and learning, governance, faculty, operational systems and partnerships with stakeholders were rigorously evaluated.
The road to receiving this accreditation has been a long journey for everyone at our school and I want to extend my sincere congratulations to everyone who has been involved – Governors, faculty, staff, alumni, parents and students.
We will hear from WASC after their board meeting (probably in Jan), but the result will most likely be the same.
Again, thank you for supporting the school as we went through this process. Achieving dual accreditation is not an easy task, and this would not have been possible if it wasn’t for the dedication and amazing efforts of so many.
Congratulations to all on a job well done!
