Grades 5 and 6 Sleepover

On June 1st and 2nd the Grades 5 and 6 classes held the annual Horizon Sleepover Event.

The activities began at Shirahata park where our students braved mosquitos to compete against each other in two games of capture the flag. The grade 6 class took the first victory due to a Shotaro sneak attack. The next game pitted boys against girls, with the girls winning based on captures of enemy team members.

Following Capture the Flag it was time to cool down with a water fight. Students brought in water guns and Mr. Aldridge and helpers prepared many water balloons for the combat that followed. Everyone had a great time playing with the water and having fun together.

Now dried out students settled in for indoor games and a pizza dinner. It was at this time that Ms. Mutrux introduced the students to a mystery game where they had to follow a set of clues to solve the mystery. With nighttime settling in… the horror began. Mr. Aldridge setup some scar music over the school PA system to set the mood for Hide and Seek in the dark. Mr. Aldridge and various other hunters searched the whole building for their victims and everyone had an exciting time playing together.

Beds were then set up with movies being played before it was 10:30 and lights out. The campus grew quiet, most slept, and morning dawned with a pancake breakfast with Grade 5 and 6 students preparing all of the food with teacher guidance. Then it was time for clean up and a very sleepy return home with everyone tired, but happy.

Memories were made. Friendships strengthened. Teachers exhausted. Overall… a successful event.
